Understanding Philippine Clearances

What clearances actually verify — and what they don't.

NBI, National Police, and barangay clearances serve different purposes. Understanding their scope helps families read each record correctly — and see why no single document should stand alone.

National record

NBI Clearance

A current National Bureau of Investigation clearance is a nationwide government record used during screening to identify whether the applicant has an existing entry in the NBI system, or a matching result that requires further verification.

MaidProvider.ph obtains a fresh NBI clearance for the current screening process and authenticates it through the NBI's official verification channel.

What it does not do

A clearance is a point-in-time record. A clear result is not a prediction of future conduct and does not replace identity verification, employment checks, address confirmation, direct interviews, or other screening layers.

Nationwide police record

National Police Clearance

The Philippine National Police issues National Police Clearance through the National Police Clearance System (PNP-NPCS). The system is designed to provide standardized police-clearance issuance with nationwide scope.

MaidProvider.ph obtains a current National Police Clearance through the PNP-NPCS and reviews it alongside the candidate's NBI clearance rather than treating either national record as sufficient on its own.

What it does not do

A National Police Clearance is still one screening record. It does not replace NBI authentication, civil-identity checks, employment validation, address confirmation, clinical assessment, or direct household interviews.

Community record

Barangay Clearance

A barangay clearance is a local community document issued by the candidate's barangay of residence. In household-professional screening, it can support residence and community-level verification when read alongside national clearances and identity records.

MaidProvider.ph reviews the barangay clearance as part of the candidate's wider screening file rather than as a substitute for national criminal-record checks.

What it does not do

A barangay clearance is not a nationwide criminal-history check. Its value is local and contextual, so it should be interpreted together with NBI, PNP-NPCS, identity, address, and employment records.

Why one clearance isn't enough.

Different issuing systems answer different questions. Reviewing several current records together gives a more complete and internally consistent screening file than relying on a single document.
